Westwin, a leading digital marketing and technology company that focuses on cross-border business, was invited to deliver a speech on with the topic "From Peppa Pig's Success to D&G's Mess: 2019 Cross-border Marketing Insights" at the China and UK Brand and Creative Forum, one of the major events at the 2019 Shanghai International Advertising Festival (SHIAF).
Anderson Liu, CEO of Westwin, began his speech by mentioning two hot topics on cross-border marketing in 2018. Then he shared the opportunities and challenges on cross-border business and illustrated how Westwin helped foreign brands enter China and Chinese companies expand overseas. In the end, Anderson predicted the cross-border marketing trends to keep on track in 2019. He demonstrated the value of MarTech (marketing technology) which is prominent and will be top priority for Westwin to focus on.
The forum gathered participants including agencies and companies looking to cooperate with advertising firms. Also, as part of the festival, a delegation of UK advertising agencies and companies, led by Promote UK Chair and IPA Director of Marketing Strategy, Janet Hull OBE and Advertising Association Chief Executive, Stephen Woodford, visited Westwin's Shanghai office to further discuss the potential for collaboration opportunities.
"This year may see more collaboration between advertising companies from China and the UK," said Anderson Liu, CEO of Westwin, who added that the Shanghai International Advertising Festival reached an agreement with the industry associations from the UK last year.
"Over the years, we have developed a superb understanding of the Chinese market, providing many UK brands with digital marketing solutions in China, the world's second largest economy," said Anderson Liu, CEO of Westwin. In 2018, Westwin released the China Cross-border Consumption Report to help overseas advertisers learn more about Chinese consumers. In addition to providing clients with professional insights, the company also makes efforts to expand globally to serve overseas brands. "Westwin has just opened our London office last year, and we're making efforts to better serve our UK clients, as we hope to contribute more to the Sino-British cross-border market," said Liu.
The Shanghai International Advertising Festival (SHIAF) gathered agencies, brands and professionals from the UK, China and other countries. Following an MOU signed by the SHAIF, the Advertising Association (from the UK) and the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising, the event provides a platform for agencies and brands from both countries to share their experiences and expects to see more cooperation to tap into fast-growing markets like China.
